The principle club supporter, Lings Honda, invited the club to a BBQ at their Harleston showrooms near Diss, Norfolk.

Obviously it was a location that couldn't easily be reached by members in far-flung parts of the UK, but we were encouraged by the arrival of riders from as far afield as Sussex, the midlands, Lincolnshire, and even Yorkshire. Nice to see so many club members there for a good day of great company and nice bikes.

A number of us met in Thetford and then rode up together to Lings. The sight over a dozen fireblades 'making steady progress' was fantastic, and we all managed to keep in fairly tight formation despite occasional heavy traffic. Unfortunately the day was, if anything, too hot, and when we tried to negotiate our way through Diss town centre the temperature inside our leathers was reaching boiling point, but that went down once we were back on the open roads.

Meeting at Thetford:

We had lunch (thanks to Paul and team at Lings for laying on the BBQ, but perhaps more importantly for being prepared to stand behind the grills and cook it on such a hot day!), and then we took off on a 40-mile blast round the countryside arranged by the eastern region's rideout co-ordinator, RB900. Fantastic fun, nice roads, and at a pace to suit everyone, so fast bits and then bunch up again before the next stretch of open roads. Cracking fun being in a convoy of nearly twenty bikes, and certainly turned plenty of heads as we passed, including one nipper with his mum who waved to us as we went through Diss, and took great delight when all of us waved back and sounded our horns to him as we passed. The look on his face was a picture, and his mum's probable opinion of bikers certainly changed judging by her smile. See, even bikers are human beings...

So, back to Lings for a raid on their cold drinks vending machine, and then the obligatory line-up outside the showroom. Paul from Lings even managed to sell a bike to a couple of CBRF members from Yorkshire, and the clothing store upstairs was doing a roaring trade!

We also held a free prize draw for members attending the event, and the first prize of a Ron Haslam race day voucher (£250 worth!) was won by RB900. A special edition DVD of the TT circuit was won by Jayblade, and in addition we were able to give out a number of CBR Fireblader's caps and mugs as smaller prizes. See, it pays to attend one of our events!

Then we said our goodbyes and headed off to our various home destinations with one last task to perform. Following an unfortunate incident after the last Cromer rideout all members were asked to report in via the forum to let everyone know they got back safely. It was nice to see the reports coming in and rounded off a great day when we accounted for everyone being home safe.

The motley crew line up!

More pictures will be uploaded when received from members present...

A great day out and our thanks to Lings Honda for their ongoing support of the CBR Firebladers.
