We have a restricted 'members only' area of the website that requires the collection of certain personal information to be able to access it, but once you choose to provide us with any information by which you can be identified, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement.

For your protection, we are registered under the Data Protection Act 1998 and have given all appropriate notifications to the Information Commissioner. We therefore abide fully with the eight data principles laid out here - http://www.dataprotectionact.org/1.html. Our Data Protection registration has been submitted to the Information Commissioner and our registration number is Z1321455.

We may also ask you to provide us with information regarding your personal interests, demographics, or experiences with the CBRF in order to provide you with further relevant information.

We require this information to operate CBRF as effectively as possible for visitors and members for the following reasons:

Membership record keeping. We retain your personal details to confirm your identity for access to the members restricted area.

Operation of email updates. We may periodically send emails about new developments or other information which we think you may find interesting using the e-mail address which you have provided.

Collection of payments. We retain your personal information when you pay membership subscriptions or make payments for club merchandise.

From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you regarding fund-raising for our chosen club charity, Riders for Health, and furthering the CBRF’s development objectives. We may contact you by e-mail, phone, fax or mail.

When you use this site and have not advised us to the contrary, you are agreeing that we may use your personal information for the purposes set out in this statement.

We will not sell, distribute or lend your personal information to any third parties unless we have your prior permission or are required to do so by law. We may release your personal information to organisations that assist with commercial components of the CBRF’s merchandise sales such as shirt suppliers etc. This information will usually be limited to your name and postal address.

You may request details of personal information which we hold about you under the Data Protection Act 1998. A fee of £10 may be payable to cover our administration. If you would like a copy of the information held on you please write to:

A cookie is a piece of text which asks permission to be placed on your computer’s hard drive. Once you agree, your browser adds that text in a small file. A cookie helps analyse web traffic or lets you know when you visit a particular site. Cookies allow web applications to respond to you as an individual. The web application can tailor its operations to your needs, likes and dislikes by gathering and remembering information about your preferences. For example, when you visit an electronic store, a cookie makes it easier to shop, by allowing you to place things into a shopping basket; the basket itself is not the cookie, the cookie is placed on your hard drive and keeps track of your basket versus others in use at the same time.

We only use cookies to identify you when using our forum, but we do not use cookies on our website. We only use this information for your ease of use of the forum and then the data is removed removed from the system when you log off.

A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us. This practice is strictly in force. We know that people have concerns about cookies, but we believe that the benefit we both gain from their proper use is worthwhile. You may set your web browser (Microsoft Internet explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Netscape navigator, etc) to notify you of cookie placement requests or decline cookies completely. You can delete the files that contain cookies - those files are stored as part of your Internet browser.

We are aware that a number of visitors and CBRF club members are also visitors or registered members of other clubs and organisations. CBRF protects your personal information only in so far as it relates to the cbrf club. If you provide personal information to any other person or organisation you should satisfy yourself of the security of that information, either by the other club's privacy statement or their registration under the Data Protection Act if they are based in the EU.
